Bronson Murphy named the
2007 Jim and Carolyn Fern
Music Education Scholarship Recipient

After careful consideration, the Jim and Carolyn Fern Scholarship Committee voted on one outstanding applicant to receive the award for 2007. This year, the committee awarded the Jim and Carolyn Fern Scholarship to Bronson Murphy.

Bronson, a Greenwood High School graduate, is a vocalist at Western Kentucky University where he studies with Wayne Pope. He directs a church choir, is on the staff of the Jenny Wiley Theatre summer season, and sings in the WKU Chamber Singers and the University Choir. He is involved in the Opera Theatre Program, and has soloed in several Bowling Green churches. He has won serveral vocal competitions and was chapter secretary for Pi Kappa Lambda, the national college music honor society. He has served KMEA by assisting with vocal festivals held at Western. Bronson is carrying a 4.0 GPA, indicating his dedication to scholarship beyond his musical endeavors. His recommendations spoke of his charisma, his warmth, his integrity, and his humility.


KMEA is proud to honor Mr. Bronson Murphy with the 2007 Jim and Carolyn Fern Music Education Scholarship. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors, as we are sure he will be a success in all he pursues.
